Brain Awareness week- quiz competition
On March 15, 2024, Sree Abirami College of Physiotherapy held a quiz competition that brought together the collective knowledge and enthusiasm of students across multiple departments. The event took place in the college’s auditorium and was meticulously organized by a team led by Dr. R Jayabharathi MPT (Ortho), Ph.D., Dean of Academics and Principal, along with Prof. S. Guhan MPT(Neuro), Vice Principal.
The competition started at 11:00 am and was graced by several dignitaries from the college, including Dr. A Arvin Babu, Dean of Administration, Dr. Renuka, Principal of Nursing, and Mrs. M Thamilarascy MOT, Principal in charge of Occupational Therapy. Faculty members from various departments were also present to support their students.
This intellectual event was structured to include students from Physiotherapy, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences (AHS), General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), Pharmacy, and Occupational Therapy. In total, 36 students participated, forming nine teams. Each team consisted of four members, with a diverse representation from each department, ensured by a lot system to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The competition was divided into five engaging rounds, each managed by a different quiz master:
1. **Memory Round** – Led by Asst. Prof A. Chandru.
2. **Thinking Round** – Conducted by Asst. Prof P K Jaisri.
3. **Listening Round** – Overseen by Assistant Prof M K Kalpidhaa.
4. **Reading Round** – Facilitated by Clinical Instructor R Anishya.
5. **Rapid Fire Round** – Hosted by Assoc. Prof L Asha Shanthi.
Prof. S. Guhan and Mrs. M Thamilarascy served as judges for the event, ensuring fairness and accuracy in scoring.
The quiz was held in two sessions: the morning session included the Memory, Thinking, and Listening rounds, while the Reading and rapid-fire rounds took place in the afternoon. The competition was fierce, and the participants demonstrated both teamwork and individual brilliance.
At the end of the day, Team 2 claimed the top position, with Team 7 and Team 1 following as the first and second runners-up, respectively. The winners were honored with shields and certificates, which were presented by the college’s esteemed faculty. Mrs. M Thamilarascy awarded the second runners-up, Dr. A Arvin Babu presented the first runners-up with their awards, and Dr. R Jayabharathi had the honor of awarding the champions.
Each team’s effort was acknowledged with participation certificates, ensuring every contestant recognized their contribution to the event’s success.
The quiz competition at Sree Abirami College of Physiotherapy was more than a mere academic challenge; it was a celebration of learning and intellectual exchange. It not only tested the students’ knowledge across various disciplines but also encouraged them to engage with peers from different fields, fostering a spirit of unity and intellectual growth.
