World AIDS Day 2026: Awareness Initiative by Sree Abirami College of Nursing, Coimbatore
Sree Abirami College of Nursing, Coimbatore, organized a National Level Quiz Competition to celebrate the World AIDS Day to be held on 1 December 2026 with a view to create awareness among health care students about HIV/AIDS. The programme was held according to the world theme of the World AIDS Day 2026 that highlights the need to eradicate inequalities and come together to create an AIDS free world.
Creating Awareness among Future Healthcare Professionals
It was a major scholarly and consciousness raising event, and brought together future healthcare professionals in the country. It concentrated on informing students on the important issues of HIV/AIDS, such as prevention, methods of transmission, treatment, and social issues that affected persons have to deal with. This was a project that helped to develop a sense of responsibility, compassion and professional commitment among the students
Winners and Recognition
The award function honored excellent performers during the contest. Firstly, the first prize was won by Ms. Swathi of KG College of Nursing with an award amount of ₹2,000. Secondly, the second prize was grabbed by Ms. Karkuzhali from Kamaraj College of Nursing with a monetary award of ₹1,500.
Thirdly, the third prize was bagged by Ms. Dharshana from Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences and awarded her with ₹1,000. These are the examples of excellence and dedication towards their respective subjects.
Active participation and academic involvement
The National Level Quiz Competition was attended with great zeal by almost 130 students representing different nursing and paramedical institutions. The competition was also a challenge of academic knowledge but also stimulated critical thinking, teamwork, and cooperation between institutions.
It made the learning process interesting and the students were able to increase their knowledge by healthy competition.
Appreciation &Conclusion
Sree Abirami College of Nursing, Coimbatore, sincerely thanks all participants who participated in it with great zeal. All the participants were given e-certificates to appreciate their important role in this awareness campaign.The event was a success and a powerful message was given on the need to educate, create awareness and have collective responsibility in creating an AIDS-free society.
