Each year, International Youth Day is celebrated globally to recognize the contributions of young people to society and to empower them to shape a better future. The theme for 2025, “Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future,” focused on encouraging youth participation in sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and responsible global citizenship.
To commemorate this important occasion, Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore, organized a vibrant and thought-provoking program led by Dr. B. Premkumar, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics. The event was hosted in the SACOPT Auditorium and aimed at motivating and guiding the young minds of the institution to recognize their role as change-makers and future leaders.
🙏 Opening Ceremony
The celebration began promptly at 2:00 PM with a soulful prayer song performed by the talented students of III Year B.Pharm, setting a positive and peaceful tone for the event. The auditorium was filled with enthusiasm and anticipation as over 200 students gathered to participate and engage in the celebration of youth power.
The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Indhu Mathi, Assistant Professor, extended a warm greeting to the audience and introduced the theme of the year. She highlighted how young people are increasingly becoming drivers of social, environmental, and technological transformation around the world.
🎙️ Chief Guest Address by Mr. Karthik Rengarajan
The highlight of the event was the inspiring session conducted by the Chief Guest, Mr. Karthik Rengarajan, a dynamic speaker, founder of 2K Speakathon, and a renowned young entrepreneur from Coimbatore. His presence energized the crowd and added great value to the day’s proceedings.
Mr. Karthik was felicitated with a shawl by Dr. S. Jeevanandham, Principal of Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy, as a token of respect and appreciation. He then took the stage to engage with the students through a lively and interactive session filled with motivational stories, real-life examples, and fun activities that encouraged students to break their barriers and think beyond academics.
His speech revolved around:
- The importance of self-awareness and confidence
- The role of youth in building sustainable communities
- Taking ownership of personal growth
- Overcoming failure and building resilience

🏆 Acknowledgment and Memento Presentation
In appreciation of his valuable contribution, Dr. B. Premkumar, HoD of Pharmaceutics, presented a memento to Mr. Karthik Rengarajan on behalf of the college. This gesture symbolized the institution’s gratitude for his presence and impactful message, which truly resonated with the youth in attendance.
🙌 Conclusion & Vote of Thanks
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. R. Dileep, Department of Pharmaceutics. He acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team, the support of the college management, the motivating words of the Chief Guest, and most importantly, the active participation of the students.
The program came to a close with the National Anthem, filling the hall with patriotic fervor and a collective sense of purpose.
