“Honoring the Constitution: 75th Republic Day Celebrations at Sree Abirami Institutions”

On January 26, 2024, Sree Abirami Institutions joined the nation in celebrating India’s 75th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. This significant day commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution, which replaced the Government of India Act of 1935, marking India’s transition into a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.

The festivities took place on the college grounds from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., bringing together students, faculty, and staff members who were filled with a deep sense of patriotism and dedication. The celebration began with a vibrant march past performed by the first-year students from all departments. Dressed in crisp uniforms, the students displayed impeccable discipline and coordination, setting an inspiring tone for the event.

Following the march past, the National Flag was hoisted by the esteemed Chairman of Sree Abirami Institutions, Dr. P. Periyasamy. As the tricolor unfurled against the clear morning sky, the crowd stood in reverent silence, reflecting on the sacrifices of the nation’s forebearers. In his stirring speech, Dr. Periyasamy highlighted the importance of the Constitution and its unique features enshrined in the Preamble—sovereignty, socialism, secularism, democracy, and republicanism. He emphasized how these principles have guided India’s progress and the role that each citizen plays in upholding them.

The celebration continued with speeches from Dr. Senthilkumar and Dr. Balamurugan, directors of Sree Abirami Institutions. They shared insightful perspectives on the significance of Republic Day, encouraging students to contribute positively to the nation by excelling in their fields and serving society with integrity.

The cultural program that followed was a showcase of talent and national pride. Students presented a variety of performances, including patriotic songs, traditional dances, folk performances, mime acts, and speeches. The melodious rendition of patriotic songs resonated with the audience, evoking emotions of unity and love for the country. The dances, adorned with colorful costumes, depicted India’s rich cultural heritage and diversity.

One of the highlights was a mime performance that artistically portrayed the journey of India’s struggle for independence and the drafting of the Constitution. The silent act spoke volumes, leaving a profound impact on the spectators. Speeches delivered by students reflected their understanding of the Constitution’s values and their aspirations for the nation’s future.

As the program drew to a close, Ms. Meera Suresh, a fourth-year B.Sc. Nursing students delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the chairman, directors, faculty members, and students for their contributions to making the event a success. She acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the celebration and the importance of such events in fostering a sense of national pride among the youth.

The gathering concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, a moment that unified everyone in shared respect and patriotism. Following the formal proceedings, chocolates were distributed among the students, adding a sweet note to the end of a memorable day.

The 75th Republic Day celebration at Sree Abirami Institutions was not just an event but a reaffirmation of commitment to the constitutional values that define India. It served as a reminder to the young minds about their role in shaping the nation’s future and the significance of staying true to the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
