Guest Lecture on “Understanding Drug Actions through Animations”

The Department of Pharmacology at Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy organized a guest lecture on the morning of February 10, 2024, featuring Dr. A. Murugesan from the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education, Chennai. Dr. Murugesan presented an insightful lecture on the significant role of animation technology in elucidating drug mechanisms. He covered various digital tools such as PowerPoint presentations, GIFs, and HTML5 animations that are accessible online for a deeper comprehension of drug interactions at the molecular level.

The event saw a gathering of students from different Pharmacy programs, including D.Pharm, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and Pharm D, who arrived at the venue by 9:45 AM. The session commenced with a warm welcome by the college’s principal, Dr. S. Jeevanantham, who introduced the participants and the esteemed guest. Dr. Murugesan was then honored with a shawl, symbolizing respect and appreciation.

Following the lecture, an engaging Q&A session took place, allowing students to clarify their doubts and interact directly with Dr. Murugesan. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Dr. P. Srinivasan, the Head of the Department of Pharmacology.

This educational event was supported by the Chairman of Sree Abirami Institutions, Dr. P. Peryasamy, along with Managing Directors Dr. Senthil Kumar & Dr. Balamurugan, and other distinguished online participants, including Dr. Kunthavai Devi, Dr. Uma Devi, and Dr. Sucharitha. The guest lecture was well-received, with over 250 students attending. The function concluded on a high note with the national anthem, marking the end of a successful and informative session.
