Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy successfully hosted a One-Day National Level Continuing Education Programme on December 6, 2024, titled “Emerging Trends and Challenges in Drug Safety Discovery & Development.” The event was proudly co-sponsored by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, and was awarded 10 credit points to participants—a prestigious academic boost for pharmacy professionals and students alike.
The primary objective of the programme was to provide a platform for students, researchers, academicians, and industry experts to explore recent advancements, emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, and the critical challenges associated with drug safety and discovery. With over 820 students registered and actively participating, the event was a resounding success, promoting high-level learning and real-world relevance.

The day began on a celebratory note with the felicitation of all dignitaries by Dr. P. Periyasamy, Chairman of Sree Abirami Institutions, who has been a driving force behind the institution’s commitment to innovation in healthcare education. The inaugural session was opened with a welcome address by Dr. S. Jeevanandham, Principal of Sree Abirami College of Pharmacy, who emphasized the growing significance of drug safety in the modern pharmaceutical landscape.
Adding to the momentum, Dr. R. Senthilkumar, Managing Director, delivered a powerful message on the importance of such seminars in shaping future healthcare professionals. He also emphasized the role of academia in bridging the gap between industry expectations and classroom learning.

The programme concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, where certificates and mementos were awarded to all student participants and winners of the E-Poster competition. The energy in the auditorium was electrifying as students celebrated their learning and recognition.
The final Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Srinivasan, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, who appreciated the efforts of the organizing team, management, guest speakers, and participating students. The event concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.
