In a spirited celebration of National Girl Child Day 2025, Sree Abirami College of Physiotherapy hosted a vibrant and thought-provoking event on January 31, 2025, to emphasize the importance of empowering young girls in shaping a brighter future. The event, held at the SACOPT Auditorium, featured a Drawing Competition and an Essay Writing Competition, bringing together students, faculty, and guests in a collective expression of creativity, advocacy, and awareness.

Inauguration and Competitions

The celebration began at 10:30 AM with a soul-stirring prayer song, which set a solemn and reflective tone for the proceedings. The significance of the day was palpable as the hall filled with energy and purpose. Participants and attendees were briefed about the rules and regulations for the competitions, followed by lot drawing to determine the sequence of participation.

By 11:00 AM, the essay writing and drawing competitions were in full swing. Students were encouraged to express their thoughts, ideas, and hopes related to the theme “Empowering Girls for a Bright Future.” The atmosphere buzzed with concentration and enthusiasm as participants poured their hearts into their words and art, reflecting the collective consciousness of a generation committed to gender equality.

The essay writing competition was judged by Mrs. Gayathri, Faculty of Sree Abirami College of Occupational Therapy, and Mrs. Sarala, Faculty of Sree Abirami College of Nursing. Their academic insight ensured thoughtful evaluation of each submission. The drawing competition was evaluated by none other than Dr. R. Jayabharathi**, Dean of Sree Abirami Institutions, whose deep appreciation for creative expression guided the selection of outstanding entries.

Evaluation and Prize Distribution

The competitions concluded at noon, after which the judges meticulously reviewed the entries. The evaluation was carried out with fairness, sensitivity, and recognition of individual creativity and thought.

At 12:30 PM, the event resumed with a welcome address that expressed appreciation for the students’ efforts and reaffirmed the importance of promoting gender equality in all walks of life.

The much-awaited prize distribution began at 12:35 PM, and the hall erupted with applause as winners were called to the stage. Certificates and awards were presented by the esteemed Board of Directors, Dr. Balamurugan and Dr. Sucharitha, who acknowledged and appreciated the students’ creativity and critical thinking. Their presence added grace and encouragement to the entire celebration, inspiring students to dream big and strive harder.

Closing Ceremony

The event concluded on a heartfelt note with a vote of thanks at 12:40 PM, delivered with deep gratitude to all who made the event a success—the faculty members, judges, organizing committee, and most importantly, the participants. The National Anthem, played at 12:42 PM, brought a patriotic and unifying end to a significant event.
