
World Malaria Day 2025
Theme: “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”

1. Objective of the Event
To commemorate World Malaria Day 2025 and create awareness among students and the
community about the importance of malaria prevention, control strategies, and the global efforts
toward its elimination.
2. Highlights of the Event
➢ Poster Competition
A creative poster-making competition was conducted on the theme of malaria prevention and
awareness. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing innovative ideas and visual
storytelling to highlight the impact of malaria and ways to combat it.
➢ Slogan Competition
Students participated in a slogan competition to express strong, impactful messages related to
malaria eradication. The activity encouraged brief yet powerful communication in line with this
year’s theme.
Guest Lecture by Dr. Geetha Chitra
Renowned expert Dr. Geetha Chitra, M.Sc (N), Ph.D (N), M.Sc. (Applied Psychology), M.A.
(Public Administration), Associate Professor, Medical Surgical Nursing Department, Sree Abirami
The College of Nursing was invited as the guest of honor. She delivered an insightful lecture on
“Preventive and Control Measures of Malaria”, covering topics such as:
• Causes and transmission of malaria
• Preventive strategies like vector control and the use of mosquito nets
• The importance of early diagnosis and prompt treatment
• Global and national malaria elimination programs
• The session was highly informative and appreciated by both students and faculty. Awareness Talk in Tamil
Sem VII Student Ms. Balasivalakshmi delivered an awareness talk about malaria in Tamil. Her
The effort to communicate in the regional language was well-received and ensured better understanding
among the audience.
World Malaria Day Pledge
To emphasize collective responsibility, a World Malaria Day Pledge was taken by all students and
faculty members, led by Mr. Aswak Kabir. This pledge reaffirmed the commitment of the academic
community to spread awareness and contribute toward a malaria-free future.
3. Participation
Total Participants: Around 100 students actively participated in the event.
Students from Pharm D and B Pharm showed keen interest and engagement throughout the
activities.
4. Outcomes & Impact
➢ Improved awareness about malaria symptoms, transmission, and prevention.
➢ Encouraged student participation in health awareness activities.
➢ Enhanced communication skills and creativity through competitions.
➢ Fostered a sense of social responsibility among the student community.

6. Conclusion
The World Malaria Day 2025 event was a great success in raising awareness and promoting
proactive measures among students. It echoed the year’s theme — “Malaria Ends With Us:
Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” — encouraging every individual to be a part of the solution in the
fight against malaria.
